THE ZIEGFELD THEATER PRESENTS ROCK OF AGES
Travel back in time to the 80s with big hair, big music and rock and roll values.
June 3-25
OGDEN, UT-May 10, 2016- The Ziegfeld Theater is proud to present the Utah theater premiere of Rock of Ages, Broadway’s hilarious and sexy homage to the wilder side of the 80s, complete with live rock band and a “We’re Not Gonna Take It” attitude.
It’s the tail end of the big, bad 1980s in Hollywood. Aqua Net, Lycra, lace and liquor flow freely at one of the Sunset Strips last legendary venues, a place where heartthrob Stacee Jaxx takes the stage and eager groupies line up to turn their fantasies into reality. Amidst the madness, aspiring rock star (and resident toilet cleaner) Drew longs to take the stage as the next big thing, but the rock and roll fairy-tale is about to end when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Strip into just another capitalist strip mall.
A Tony Award-nominated Broadway musical-turned film, Rock of Ages features the hits of bands including Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Styx, Journey Bon Jovi, and Whitesnake, all with a live rock band.
Rock of Ages is directed by Trent Cox, music directed by Rick Rea, and choreographed by Heidi Potter Hunt, assisted by Bryan Andrews.
The Ziegfeld Theater continues its 2016 season of musical comedy, “The Best of Times is Now,” with a theatrical rock concert. Under the executive leadership of Caleb and Morgan Parry and the artistic leadership of Rick Rea, the theater pursues a mission of “Professional Standard, Community Spirit” as it strives to bring quality entertainment to diverse audiences in Northern Utah. In addition to receiving new and comfortable seating at the beginning of the year, the theater has now lowered the tops of the seats to provide maximized viewing.
The opening gala and performance is Friday, June 3 at 7:30 p.m. Regular performances are 7:30 p.m. every Friday and Saturday, adding 2:00 p.m. Saturday matinees beginning the week of June 17.
